AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course

Become an AHA-Certified Instructor and Start Teaching Lifesaving Skills.

The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Instructor Course is designed for healthcare professionals and experienced rescuers who are ready to take the next step—teaching CPR and Basic Life Support to others. Upon successful completion, you will be certified to teach AHA BLS Provider courses, including BLS Renewal, Skills Checks, and more.

Who Should Take This Course?

This course is ideal for:

  • Current AHA BLS Providers with strong CPR knowledge
     
  • Nurses, EMTs, paramedics, and other medical professionals
     
  • Individuals looking to teach healthcare-level CPR in clinical, academic, or corporate settings
     
  • Training officers, safety professionals, and instructors
     

Course Includes:

  • Instructor Candidate Orientation
     
  • AHA Instructor Essentials Training (online pre-course module)
     
  • Hands-on classroom instruction with an AHA Training Faculty
     
  • Practice teaching and feedback sessions
     
  • Overview of AHA instructor responsibilities, paperwork, compliance, and course monitoring
     

Prerequisites:

  • Current, valid AHA BLS Provider certification
     
  • Completion of the AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Online Course (link provided after registration)
     
  • Instructor Candidate Application (provided by the Training Center)
     
  • Alignment with an AHA Training Center (Code Blue CPR Services will assist with alignment and onboarding)
     

Course Format:

  • Blended Format: Online Instructor Essentials + In-Person Training Day
     
  • Duration: 6 to 8 hours (in-person portion)
     

Certification:

  • 2-Year AHA BLS Instructor Certification
     
  • Eligible to teach BLS Provider, BLS Renewal, and HeartCode BLS Skills Sessions
     
  • Issued through Code Blue CPR Services, an authorized AHA Training Center
     

What Happens After the Course?

  • You will be assigned a Training Center Faculty Mentor
     
  • You must complete a monitoring session within 60 days of the course
     
  • Once successfully monitored, you will be fully authorized to teach BLS courses independently

Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Course

The American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Course certifies you to teach and certify others in lifesaving skills, including Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED use. This course is ideal for professionals, educators, safety trainers, and anyone passionate about making a difference through instruction.

  • Blended Learning: Includes online pre-course work (Instructor Candidate Training) and in-person Instructor-Level Skill Session
     
  • Course Length: 8–9 hours (in-person), plus online prework
     
  • Includes practice teaching and skill demonstration
     

Prerequisites:

  • Must be at least 16 years old
     
  • Complete the Red Cross Instructor Candidate Training (ICT) prior to attending
     
  • Successfully demonstrate proficiency in CPR/AED and First Aid skills
     
  • Access to Red Cross Learning Center (we assist with setup if needed)
     

Certification:

  • 2-Year Red Cross Instructor Certification
     
  • Authorizes you to teach:
     
    • Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED
       
    • First Aid
       
    • Blended and Classroom formats
       
  • Certificates are nationally recognized and OSHA-compliant
